The Crab Nebula (M1, NGC 1952). This nebula, located in Taurus, is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula. The progenitor star of the nebula was seen as a supernova on Earth in 1054, and the pulsar that it became is 6,500 light years away. Together, they are one of the strongest sources of x-rays and gamma rays in the night sky.
